Located in the southeastern corner of Georgia, Folkston is a place rich with history and southern charm. The booming railroad business in the 1880's was responsible for the establishment of Folkston. A railroad station was built in the area to accommodate passengers traveling on the Savannah, Florida, and Western Railroad Companies. Settlers begin moving near the rail station and in November 1881, the settlement was officially named Folkston. On April 3, 1895, Folkston was officially incorporated as a city.
