Folkston Railroad Transportation Museum

Folkston's railroad heritage is very important to the people who live here. Recognizing the significance of this aspect of Folkston's history, the City of Folkston has renovated and preserved the old railroad depot which includes the Folkston Railroad Transportation Musuem.

The City has converted the "old freight room" into a museum highlighting its rich railroad history. The museum contains railroad artifacts such as genuine log books and an office setting used by dispatchers many years ago, pictures of logging by rail in the Okefenokee Swamp and numerous other items of railroad history.

The museum is located inside the "Depot" in downtown Folkston. The grounds around the facility are beautifully landscaped with large oak trees, benches and a covered pavillon. We encourage you to visit Folkston and see the railroad history displayed in the Folkston Railroad Transportation Museum.
